Privacy

Topo is designed to work on your Mac with no account and no tracking. This page explains exactly which data is processed, where and why.
What stays on your Mac
- Settings: in
~/.config/topo/config.json. - To-do list, shelf, pinned clipboard items, last played track: in your account's Application Support folder.
- Clipboard history: in memory only; it's gone when the app quits. Passwords copied from a password manager are ignored.
- Now Playing, calendar, camera (mirror): read live on your Mac for display, never sent anywhere.
We have no access to any of this data.
What is sent, and to whom
- Weather (if you turn on the widget): the approximate coordinates of the place you chose are sent to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway, api.met.no), at most every 20 minutes and only while the notch is open. City search uses Apple's geocoding service.
- License: when you activate, your license key and your Mac's name are sent to our reseller, Polar, which checks the key. After that, a check happens at most once a day.
- Purchase: payment is handled by Polar (Polar Software Inc.), acting as Merchant of Record under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email and country for invoicing and support. Right after purchase, the confirmation page asks our server (hosted by Cloudflare) for your key to activate Topo: nothing is stored.
- Updates: once a day, Topo checks the list of versions on gettopo.app. As with any web page, the host sees the IP address and macOS version; nothing else is sent.
Topo contains no usage analytics, no ads and no trackers.
